The Department
of Political Science, Periyar Government Arts College, Cuddalore will organize
and conduct UGC -sponsored inter-collegiate Youth Parliament by the second week
of February-2015. The training on Parliamentary procedures and practices shall
be imparted for 90 students from various colleges of South Indian States. After
training for 7 days on various practices of Parliament, different roles will be
assigned to the students according to their abilities.
The very purpose of conducting Youth
Parliament is to educate the student community on democratic functioning and to
understand the working of Indian Parliament system. The training will be imparted by experts who
attended the training conducted by Ministry of Parliamentary affairs,
Government of India. The best performing students will be awarded three prizes
and citation. Such innovative teaching methods shall involve student community
themselves in the learning process. It is kind of citizenship training, political
education and to learn the Parliamentary process in India.
All the activities are co-ordinated
