College to offer M.Phil, Ph.D
The Periyar Government Arts College here is all set to start
several M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes from the coming academic year (2014 -
2015).
In a statement released here, principal V.N. Viswanathan stated
that based on its strength of infrastructure, staff and resourcefulness the
college was upgraded to Grade I in May 2014.
The institution is now preparing for the second cycle of
accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The
accreditation process would go on from January 8 to 10.
The college is running 14 undergraduate and 11 post-graduate
courses. The Higher Education Department has given concurrence to start new UG
and PG courses besides offering M.Phil and Ph.D on full-time and part-time
basis.
The courses and programmes to be started are as follows: B.Sc in
visual communication and PG courses such as M.A (public administration) and MSW
(Master of Social Works).
Research programmes: M.Phil (both full time and part time) in
commerce, economics, computer
science, zoology, physics and micro-biology.

Ph.D programmes (both full time and part time) in microbiology
physics, zoology and history. The applications for the above courses and the
programmes could be obtained from the college.
